Jabong.cJabongom, a leading online fashion retailer, is set to launch its first technology lab in India, with an aim to use innovation across multiple platforms, including search, data, and marketing.

First ‘Jabong Lab’ will start at Bangalore this week, and is expected to hire about 100 employees with strong technology credentials, to work across multiple projects.

The latest initiative by the fashion portal is in line with the strategy of other ecommerce companies that are increasingly banking on technology to strengthening their core backend and supply chain operations and building big data platforms, in order to get greater insights into consumer behaviour.

The company’s revenue tripled to Rs. 438 crore in the year to March 2014, compared to the previous fiscal, while losses narrowed by about eight per cent to Rs. 293.4 crore over the same period, according to documents filed with the Registrar of Companies.

The Indian fashion and lifestyle ecommerce portal Jabong is a multi-brand purveyor that offers more than 1500 on-trend international high-street and sportswear labels, as well as Indian ethnic and designer brands. Providing over 1,50,000 styles, the company also associates itself with major Bollywood blockbuster movies and brings in the new wave in fashion trends.
