NRDC Inks Agreement With Silk Houses In WB

The National Research Development Corporation (NRDC), entered into Licence Agreements with Nabagram Resham Shilpa Unnayan Cooperative Society Ltd., Murshidabad and Dariapur Rural Development Society, Kalia Chak in West Bengal for the commercialization of ‘Ghar Sodhon’ – a room disinfectant for silkworm rearing houses and appliances, the science and technology ministry said in a release.

The disinfectant has been developed at the Central Silk Research & Training Institute (CSRTI) in Berhampore, a constituent Research Institute under Central Silk Board, Bengaluru, under the textiles ministry.

‘Ghar Sodhon’ is a user friendly and non-corrosive room disinfectant, devoid of the requirement of labour, water, electricity and spraying machines. It is gaining popularity among the silk farmers in West Bengal, Odisha and Jharkhand, the release said.

The formal licence agreement was signed by H. Purushotham, chairman and managing director, NRDC and Soumya Dipta Majumdar, secretary, Nabagram Resham Shilpa Unnayan Co-operative Society Ltd. and Md. Azmal, president, Dariapur Rural Development Society respectively.
