Ministry Of Textiles Celebrates ‘Colours Of Independence’

Ministry of textiles is celebrating ‘Colours of Independence (Azadi Ke Rang)’ on the occasion of the 70th Independence Day at 70 locations across the nation from 9th to 15th August to infuse the passion of freedom and patriotism among Indians, especially the youth.

A 12ft x 9ft flex has been created with a Khadi Canvas of 8ft x 7ft in the centre. The flex board along with the canvas has been put up in a prominent place in each identified location for general public to express their views on the auspicious occasion of our Independence Day. Public will be encouraged to express through colour or any other means, their own unique interpretation of National Independence and their hopes and aspirations for the future.

Textile minister, Smriti Zubin Irani congratulated the nation on this occasion and urged the people of the nation to remember and thank the freedom fighters who fought for our independence and gave us a free India. She further added that we should honour our defence forces who continuously fight for the safety of India and because of whom we are safe in our homes. This week is dedicated to them and their untiring efforts.

Over 60 per cent of India’s population is youth and textile ministry want to communicate to the people of our Nation especially our youth, the importance of this born freedom that we have, which has been achieved after years of struggle from our freedom fighters.

Ministry expresses confidence that this Independence Festival be celebrated across the nation by all the people of the country including our youth, not only in the 70 identified locations, but everywhere in the honour of our freedom fighters and our defence forces.
