Jamdani Exhibition 2016’ organized by Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation (BSCIC) began at Bangladesh National Museum in Dhaka yesterday. Industries minister Amir Hossain Amu inaugurated the ten-day show.

In his speech, Amu underscored the need for proper patronzation to protect Jamdani, which is on the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

It represents the classical status of Bangladesh in the global market. So this type of exhibition should be organized in the big cities outside Dhaka, too, the minister. Jamdani Palli (village) and research centre has been set up in Tarabo of Narayanganj to revive the old glory of Dhakai Jamdani.
