Grasim Suspends VSF Production In MP

Grasim Industries, a flagship company of the Aditya Birla Group and India’s pioneer in viscose staple fibre (VSF), is temporarily suspending production in a phased manner at its Nagda plant in Madhya Pradesh.

The company has informed the BSE that it has started reducing production of VSF at its Nagda plant in a phased manner due to water shortage caused by deficient rain last year.

Production will be resumed on the arrival of monsoon and availability of adequate water, the company said.

It said VSF stocks are not likely to be affected as it has built up adequate VSF stock and will continue to cater to the requirements of all its customers from its available stock and supplies from other VSF plants located at Kharach and Vilayat (both in Gujarat) and Harihar in Karnataka.

The operations of chlor-alkali plant are also likely to be affected and will run on the availability of water, Grasim said.
